Former Mountaineer Competes in the WWE

Moments ago, former West Virginia Mountaineer punter Pat McAfee wrestled in the WWE NXT’s “Takeover Thirty.” McAfee made his in-ring debut against professional wrestler Adam Cole.

Despite an impressive first appearance in the ring, McAfee was eventually pinned by Cole but won the respect of many in the business for his ability after training for only about two weeks.

McAfee is an incredible athlete and showed off his skills in the ring, at times looking like a bonafide professional in the ring.  Check out the flip from the top ropes:

Unfortunately, McAfee eventually lost the match and was pinned in the center of the ring by Cole.  No word yet on if McAfee will demand a rematch or will continue to work inside the ring, or whether he will continue to be a commentator for WWE.

McAfee was quoted as saying, “Wrestling was some of my favorite times growing up. And to be honest, ever since those days, if you talked to anybody, I’ve always said that I thought I was put on this earth to be a professional wrestler.”
