MORGANTOWN, West Virginia — Moments ago, it was revealed that former West Virginia offensive coordinator Gerad Parker has been hired as the next head coach at Troy.
Parker, 42, was born in Huntington, West Virginia, and has been an assistant at Marshall, Purdue, Duke, Penn State, West Virginia (2020-2021) and was the offensive coordinator at Notre Dame last season.
Current West Virginia assistants Matt Moore, Sean Reagan and Chad Scott were also considered candidates for the position, but ultimately Troy has picked Gerad Parker as their next head coach. Parker’s only head coaching experience came in 2016 when he was named the interim head coach when Purdue fired Darrell Hazell mid-season and Parker was the interim for the final six games. Parker went 0-6 that year as the interim head coach.
