Neal Brown Postgame Comments

MORGANTOWN, West Virginia — The West Virginia Mountaineers (4-3, 2-2) suffered another difficult, embarrassing loss tonight as they fell to the Oklahoma State Cowboys (5-2, 3-1). Here’s what head coach Neal Brown had to say following the game:

“I’m disappointed. Crazy 4th quarter. I don’t think I’ve never been a part of a game like this. This one stings worse than last week. I can’t explain it. I can’t explain it. It’s a hard one for me to explain. Garrett (Greene) played his tail off and gave us a chance to win. Sometimes he thinks he’s superman, I’m not faulting him, he’s the only reason we had a chance this game.

Extremely frustrating. I didn’t understand a lot of the calls. We were clearly pass interferred on late in the game. We had our chances. We made some mistakes that I have a hard time explaining. I would love to have the first drive after halftime back. That wasn’t a good start to the half, but I thought we did some good things offensively.

We missed a lot of tackles. It looked like we ran past a lot of guys. I’ll have to watch it, but we obviously we didn’t tackle well in the 2nd half. We don’t have much depth at linebacker right now and they are learning as they go. Was fatigue a factor? As much as we train, that’s hard for me to point at and say that it was a factor.

We’ve just got to play better. We have 5 games left on this schedule and no one is going to feel sorry for us. We go down to UCF next week and they played one of the top teams in the nation to the last second today. They won’t care next week. Then we have BYU the next week after that. They won’t care. No one is going to feel sorry for us. We have to be able to respond and get better. We had chances to win in the 4th quarter and just didn’t get it done. We just need to finish better.”
