MORGANTOWN, West Virginia — The search for the next head coach of the West Virginia Mountaineers is in full swing, and moments ago, Pat McAfee discussed the process on his show. Many people believed that Wren Baker would announce that Rich Rodriguez would take over the program live on The Pat McAfee Show today, but that never happened.

Instead, McAfee said, “I think whoever Wren (Baker) hires, is going to be great for West Virginia. But I do not know who is getting hired at West Virginia. I’ve heard a lot of people say that it was going to be announced live on my show, but there have been no discussions about me going back to Morgantown or having an announcement of any kind of my show, although I would be open to it. I’ve tried to remain as hands-off as I can be during the process, but Wren Baker has tried to remain respectful to me and I’ve tried to remain respectful to him as well. I have talked to a few people, but I’m not sure a decision has been made and it is not being announced on my show today.”

McAfee added, “I think we’re ging to be good. I’m a very happy spot, but I would like Wren to make a decision soon.”

In the meantime, a West Virginia plane has landed in Anniston, Alabama, which is located approximately 20 minutes from Jacksonville State. It’s very possible that Wren Baker is meeting with Rich Rodriguez at his home and that they will fly back to Morgantown this evening with an announcement coming tonight or tomorrow morning. Stay tuned!
