Pat McAfee Says WVU is Going on a National Championship Run This Season

Kirk Herbstreit has confirmed that he is not a believer in the 2023 West Virginia football team, but former Mountaineers Pat McAfee and Pacman Jones believe it’s going to be a big season for the team.

Morgantown, WV – The West Virginia Mountaineers are expected to be one of the worst teams in the Big 12 in 2023 – that’s no secret. Coming off of a 5-7 campaign in 2022, very few media members see WVU making it back to bowl season, much less even winning five games again.

Renowned College Football Analyst Kirk Herbstreit was on The Pat McAfee Show earlier, and what he had to say about the Mountaineers lines up with what most of the general public believes.

McAfee went through West Virginia’s schedule and said, “We’re making a national championship run and said “W” after every game on the schedule. Herbstreit does not believe that West Virginia will win six games this upcoming season, and made a lofty bet with McAfee if they achieve that feat.

“If WVU wins more than six games I’ll give you anything you want.”

While this simply could have been some friendly banter between McAfee and Herbstreit, nobody would be surprised if this is how he really feels about West Virginia.
