Quarterback Competition is a “Two Man” Race Despite Greene Receiving Praise

Neal Brown has been mostly mum when it comes to the quarterback competition for the Mountaineers. He has briefly covered what he has seen in practice, coming with mostly mixed reviews. Yesterday, Brown gave praise to a signal-caller who is not a part of the quarterback competition, but could be if he continues to show promise.

True freshman quarterback Garrett Greene has caught the eye of Brown. “I’m really fired up about him,” Brown said. “The way he competes is special.” The head man even went as far to say that he would “bet” on him for the future if he could. However, despite Greene showing promise, Kendall and Doege are still the two currently dueling for the starting quarterback position on September 12th.

Brown would call the competition for the position a “two man race,” but did add that Green could eventually “become a factor” if he continues on the track that he is on right now.

Brown has not given an indication as to when he will name a starter, but we should expect it to be sooner rather than later considering we are only sixteen days away from the opener.
