West Virginia TCU Gameday Staff Predictions

The Voice of Morgantown’s staff picks the winner of today’s game against the West Virginia Mountaineers and TCU.

Fort Worth, Texas  – The West Virginia Mountaineers (3-1) travel to Fort Worth, Texas to play the TCU Horned Frogs (3-1) in a huge Big 12 Conference game. West Virginia hung on to a 20-13 win over Texas Tech last week, while TCU beat SMU 34-17. Here’s how our experts think the game will play out today:

Wyatt Coffman, Graphic Designer, The Voice of Morgantown, 0-0

This will be a close, hard-fought game between these two teams. I think TCU is still searching fo a significant win and the 3-1 Mountaineers give them the perfect opportunity. I believe Garrett Greene plays rusty in his first week back from injury and causes a key turnover or two. WVU will succeed on the ground running but it will not be enough to overcome the Horned Frogs in the end. Unfortunately, TCU holds onto the lead late in the game and wins by a field goal. In the end, TCU earns a critical win while sending Neal Brown and company into the bye week with a loss as they prepare for Dana Holgorsen and the Houston Cougars.

This is a signature win game for Neal Brown and the team. You come out of Fort Worth with a win against the Frogs, you got a lot of folks back on the climb. I think the defense finds enough of an answer for Bailey and Chandler Morris and the Mountaineers pick up a win in a low-scoring battle against a quality opponent.

Clark Johnson, Senior Writer, The Voice of Morgantown, 3-1

I have faith in these Mountaineers, but the game being in Fort Worth dampens that faith today. WVU covers – but the Frogs win late.

Brad Smith, Publisher, The Voice of Morgantown, 2-2

The line has gone way up in the favor of TCU (-13.5) over the last few days so Vegas must know something that we don’t. I really like the way that Neal Brown has handled the offense so far this season and I think the Mountaineers can beat average and below-average teams, but TCU is not an average or below-average team. They’re a real, legit Big 12 Conference team who played for the national championship last season. West Virginia gets exposed in a big way tonight.
