What Neal Brown Had to Say About the Backyard Brawl

WVU Head Coach Neal Brown was asked about the Backyard Brawl today at Big 12 Media Days.

Morgantown, WV – The Backyard Brawl returns to Morgantown for the first time since 2011 this season. Fans all across the Mountain State are looking forward to the Mountaineers having the opportunity to redeem themselves after a 38-31 loss to the Panthers in 2022.

WVU Head Coach Neal Brown was asked about the Backyard Brawl at today’s Big 12 Media Days. While he was adamant that the atmosphere will be one of the best of the season, he looked back on the 2022 edition as an opportunity lost by WVU.

Brown believes that the Mountaineers “let it slip away” in Pittsburgh, and had a great opportunity to win in the end. This is evident as West Virginia held a 7-point lead with a chance to extend it late in the fourth quarter.

To wrap up the question, Brown gave the interviewers a smirk and gave one final thought on WVU’s fans going into the matchup.

“They’ll be ready.”

West Virginia and Pitt kickoff at 7:30 ET on September 16th. The game is set to broadcast on ABC.
