The Mountaineers were on a bye week this past Saturday, so they were unable to make any big leaps in the polls. However, the team was still able to receive votes in the AP Top 25 polls this week.

West Virginia received 25 votes this week, placing them just outside the rankings. Should they come out with a victory over the Kansas Jayhawks (they all but likely will), these votes should only continue to increase.  Potentially leading to their first ranking next week.

Three of the Mountaineers’ Big 12 opponents found themselves ranked this week. Oklahoma State jumped three spots from 10 to 7, Iowa State jumped four from 24 to 20, and Kansas State received their first ranking of the year coming in at 22.

Oklahoma and Texas also received votes in this week’s poll.
