Beanie Bishop, WVU Defense Did Not Think Highly of Pitt QB Jurkovec

WVU Defensive Back Beanie Bishop had not-so-high praise for Pitt Quarterback Phil Jurkovec.

Morgantown, WV – Last night, the Mountaineer defense played a big part in WVU’s 17-6 victory over the Pitt Panthers. For the first time since 2011, the Mountaineers claimed victory over their arch-rival – and it had never been so sweet.

Pitt Quarterback Phil Jurkovec played a huge part in his team’s loss, completing only 8-of-21 passes for 81 yards and three interceptions. It was well known that the former Boston College Golden Eagle had struggled mightily during his team’s first two games.

Mountaineer Defensive Back Beanie Bishop was not afraid to let the media know that the defense knew of his lack of ability going into the game.

Here is what Bishop had to say about Jurkovec:

”We knew coming into the game, you know, that he (Phil Jurkovec) wasn’t too good at his job.”

Given the kind of night Jurkovec had, Bishop and the Mountaineers earned the right to say whatever they want about his performance. It was bad, and West Virginia was expecting him to struggle coming into the game.

The WVU defense only allowed 211 total yards for the entire night.
