MORGANTOWN, West Virginia — Moments ago, it was announced that former West Virginia head coach Dana Holgorsen has been fired as the head coach of the Houston Cougars!
Holgorsen, 52, was 31-28 overall at Houston and the Cougars finished 4-8 in their first season in the Big 12 Conference.
Following Houston’s loss at UCF yesterday, Holgorsen had the following to say: “If they don’t want me to be the football coach, they have not expressed that to me. I want to be the football coach here. With that said, I’ve got to evaluate everything. I mean everything. Every coach, every player, every scheme. There’s a lot of things that need” to be evaluated.”
According to the Houston Chronicle, Jeff Traylor, Willie Fritz, Gary Patterson & Kliff Kingsbury are top candidates to replace Holgorsen.
