SOURCE: WVU Has Decided On a Starting Quarterback

The Mountaineers have decided on their starting quarterback to open the season, according to a reliable source.

Morgantown, WV – Following a long position battle, the West Virginia Mountaineers have seemingly decided on a starting quarterback for their season opener against Penn State.

According to a reliable source, Garrett Greene will be WVU’s starting quarterback to begin the season. To many, this will not be a surprise as he has clearly been outperforming Nicco Marchiol in all publicly held practices, and scrimmages.

Greene started the final two games of the 2022 season, and even led the Mountaineers to their first Big 12 win over the Oklahoma Sooners. He has appeared in 22 games for WVU, and has compiled 664 passing yards, and 5 passing touchdowns to 3 interceptions. As a dual-threat quarterback, Greene has also added 613 rushing yards and 9 rushing touchdowns.

Despite losing the battle, Nicco Marchiol is also expected to see playing time.

WVU opens up at Penn State on September 2nd. Kickoff is set for 7:30 on NBC.
