Tre Mitchell Could Return to West Virginia

West Virginia forward Tre Mitchell is reportedly in the transfer portal, but according to Adam Zagoria, a return to the Mountaineers isn’t out of the question.

MORGANTOWN, West Virginia — Tre Mitchell, one of the top returning players for the West Virginia Mountaineers, is officially in the transfer portal. However, according to Adam Zagoria, he could potentially return to West Virginia.

“Tre Mitchell hasn’t set up any visits yet but that could change, per source. Kansas State, Memphis and DePaul have all called him this morning,” Zagoria said. “But a return to West Virginia is not out of the question.”

Mitchell, senior from Pittsburgh, PA, averaged 11.7 points and 5.5 rebounds per game for the Mountaineers last season. Kentucky is reportedly offering him huge sums of money to transfer there and other schools around the country are expected to do the same, but if West Virginia retains Josh Eilert as the interim head coach and the entire coaching staff, it’s possible that Mitchell could choose to stay with the Mountaineers.
