MORGANTOWN, West Virginia — Former West Virginia quarterback Will Grier, who was released by the Dallas Cowboys just days ago, has signed with the Cincinnati Bengals. Grier had an incredible final game with the Cowboys, completing 29 of 35 pass attempts and throwing for 305 yards and 2 touchdowns in Dallas’ 31-16 preseason finale against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Grier, 28, will now join a quarterback room in Cincinnati that includes Pro Bowler Joe Burrow and backup Jake Browning. Burrow is currently dealing with a calf injury and his availability for the team’s opener is questionable at this time. If Burrow is unable to play, it’s very possible that Grier will make the team’s roster as the backup quarterback to Browning to start the season.

At West Virginia, Grier was sensational, passing for 7,354 yards, 71 touchdowns and only 20 interceptions in 2 seasons with the Mountaineers. During his career in the NFL, Grier is just 27/44 for 224 yards and three interceptions in only two games during his rookie season with the Panthers. However, with Burrow hurt and Browning a very shaky starter for the Bengals, Grier has a tremendous opportunity to finally get some real playing time in the NFL.
