One outlet has the Mountaineers meeting the Fighting Irish this bowl season.
Morgantown, WV – With their sixth win over BYU last Saturday, the West Virginia Mountaineers are officially bowl eligible. Outlets all over the nation have included WVU in their bowl projections going into week 10, including College Football Network.
The network has West Virginia traveling to Florida to play the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the Pop Tarts Bowl.
This would be the first time since 2001 that the two sides have met on the gridiron, and the fifth overall. Notre Dame leads the current series 4-0, including a win in the 1988 Fiesta Bowl.
WVU will have a chance to better their bowl positioning this weekend when they travel to Norman to take on the 17th-ranked Sooners of Oklahoma. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on Fox.
